Cards for men

Why do we find it so hard to make cards for the men in our lives, I know most of us are in the same boat on this one.

Creating a pretty card is just too easy isn't it, but when we need one for a middle aged man I always struggle.  I find making cards for little ones much less challenging, but older men is tricky, I know I'm not alone!

I recently ran a class using the High Tide stamps that are in the Spring/Summer Catalogue, and I'm happy to say they will be carrying over into the new 2017/18 Annual Catalogue.

So here's a creation made with the set....

I used one of the scallop squares dies from the Layering Squares set, placing my top plate away from one edge of the die so as not to cut a square, then I replaced it back into my big shot and cut the other end doing the same with my top plate, I think I need to do a tutorial post on how this is done with pictures to explain!

A very simple card to create, the sponging adds a lovely effect

We made 2 other cards at the class and I will be back to share these with you soon, in the meantime, don't forget we still have the retired list available with lots of reduced items so why not check it out

and also the Eastern Palace early release suite of products

Nailed It Masculine Card

Wow, it's Friday again already, I'm not complaining as I love the weekend, usual routine blown out of the window, the smell of freshly ground coffee beans whilst we sit around the kitchen (I spend most of my time in here, love it).  As from next week Jack's racing series kicks off for this season which brings the two day events meaning our weekends will be a little different but we are still together as a family and that's the main thing.

Today I'm sharing a card that I made for a recent class, I can't tell you how much use I've had from this set Nailed It, I love how easy it is to create a masculine card, the co-ordinating dies make ease of cutting the tools out and I love that the set has a ruler die, fabulous.

There will be plenty more cards to follow this one using this set so do pop back to check them out.

When I first saw the Hexagons Dynamics embossing folder at On Stage in November, I was exciting to actually try it for myself and run it through my Big Shot machine.  I can't explain just how textured this folder is, it's pretty awesome and gets me every time I run some cardstock through with it, an outstanding product that is really a must, and don't just think of it for masculine products, it's way much more than that.

Our Sale-a-Bration promotion is still running and it's not too late to earn yourself some free products, simply place an order with me for £45 and choose from any of the free items on the flyers.

If you aren't local you can place an online order

If your order is over £25 use my Hostess Code below and I will send you a free gift in the post from me to say thank you for shopping with me.

Always someone to thank

I think there's always a reason to say "Thankyou" to someone in the way of a card, even the smallest thing can call celebration with a thanks!  Well that's my opinion anyway, any excuse to give a card or little treat bag of sweets decorated with a handmade tag!  The delight on the recipient's face, knowing that you thought of them for something they did without even really thinking about it.

Today's card uses a stamp set from the Autumn/Winter Catalogue, one I have used a lot called "Lighthearted Leaves".

My colour combo is Soft Suede, Pool Party and Island Indigo.

I always go to the Woodgrain embossing folder when I am looking for something a little masculine as I think it works really well.

I love the "Greetings Thinlits" dies, a set of three greetings that are a perfect size to add to your cards, you will need a die cutting machine to use these but I can tell you that I just couldn't live without my BIG SHOT machine, it takes cardmaking and papercraft to another level and worth every penny, a fantastic investment.

Cards for Men

I know I'm not the only one who struggles when it comes to making a card for a man, why is it we struggle so much??  I think we just find it so easy to create girly pretty designs and when it comes to the masculine ones we really have to think about it!

So today's card is definitely one for the men, I've used a gorgeous set that I received when I was on the Incentive Trip to Madeira earlier this year called

Lighthearted Leaves

I love how these leaves can be coloured in or left blank, shading with a dauber would work well too!

So here is my card...

A pretty simple design really, this gorgeous set of leafy stamps has a matching set of Framelits Dies making it easy to create in a short amount of time.

I seem to be hooked on using Vellum at the moment, you may have noticed!

The birthday greeting is from the set called "B.Y.O.P" (Buy your own present!)

My base card colour is Soft Suede which I love using on masculine cards, teamed with some Sahara Sand and Always Artichoke.

Hope you like it and feel inspired to make some "man" cards too!

If you would like to purchase any of the items I have used above, just click on a picture below and you will be taken to my online shop, or just get in touch if you are local and I can order for you.
